Bob, I’m almost sure I have a copy of volume1 Mant’s bible in galway,(I’m in Dublin at the moment so can’t be sure) I think it belonged to my great grandfather. It’s not in very good condition I’m sorry to say, it may have been printed in 1823, I can’t be sure of that or if its bound like your two bibles, if you would like it you may have it with pleasure. No, I’ve never found the first volume. Well … I’ve done a bit of searching online and I’ve come across some full three-volume sets and the occasional loose volume. However, part of my problem is that most of these sets seem to have different bindings than mine. Mine may have been re-bound at some point (very possible) or there may have been lots of different bindings in the first place (also possible). Mant’s bible was quite popular and there were several reprints (the first being in 1814, I think). There is a full set for sale on ebay at the moment, for instance, which claims to be a first edition. The binding is quite different to that on my copies.
