Went to the match yesterday with Wibble. The game itself (from a Leinster / Irish PoV) was dire … Leinster’s kicker missed four of five kicking chances in the first half, and despite that, they went in at half-time 3-0 up !
Just before half-time a punter in the crowd remarked “If this gets any more exciting, a funeral might break out!” … I have to say I agreed with the sentiment …
In the end they lost by ten points … 21-11 … not that anyone was suprised … the french came out in the second half playing like college students, to the Leinster schoolboys … rubbish game overall …
As wibble commented, the tickets to the final just got a whole lot easier to get !!!
I too was at the game pron, and it wasn’t just shit from a Leinster/Irish PoV, it was a shit match in general, with the French poor too, along with the referee, touch judges, announcers and the crowd in particular. One of the bad things about having matches such as this in Lansdowne is that all of a sudden you get a totally different ‘fair weather’ rugby crowd going and it just kills the atmospehere altoghether. If the match had of been held in Donnybrook I reckon Leinster would have done much better (same applies for the quarter finals), but the IRFU/Leinster Branch being as they are put their pockets before their team!
