When, oh when will companies “Get it” ?
Got a nice little wireless PCMCIA card from LevelOne the other day (thanks elrond!). Comes supplied with binary drivers for RedHat’s 2.4.18-3 kernel (RH 7.3).
Great … it’s a binary-only non-GPL driver, but for now I can live with that …
Except that it won’t insmod on a vanilla kernel … it needs a patch that RH manage to include, but doesn’t apply cleanly to newer (2.4.21-preX) kernels …
It doesn’t take much to do it right and supply your binary module with a compilable wrapper that ensures it’s okay for the currently running kernel … Please Realtek … Do this for your 8180L chipset … Please ?
