If, like me, you are really looking forward to the elections over the next few days, I recommend that you keep a close eye over electoral-vote.com which has very informative, and up-to-date polls as they happen

Sunday, October 31st, 2004New York Camera (ny-camera.net) no longer trading
Sunday, October 31st, 2004Some very bad news I am afraid, New York Camera have gone bust and out of business. They have laid off their staff and a bank official has been appointed to liquidate the company. I have received the below email from one of their employees. I have also posted the headers of this email to verify authenticity, it looks like a genuine mail when compared to previous emails from the company. Looks like I now have to go and look elsewhere for my EOS 20D

Back…
Saturday, October 30th, 2004So, after a few lovely days in France, I’m back in Ireland, though, I’m not supposed to be! Was due to be in Birmingham this weekend, however, the boat was late getting back to Ireland, and as a result, I missed my plane over! Can’t get myself a different flight out for the weekend, so, looks like it’s rainy Ireland for me for the weekend!
I’m offline for a bit…
Saturday, October 23rd, 2004Taking a nice well deserved break (if I do say so myself) for the next few days, and don’t plan on being online too much (ok, so I will need my fix at some stage, but you know what I mean!).
Poo
Friday, October 22nd, 2004Are they really talking about poo on the Late Late show…hmmm, last thing I need to hear about at this hour of the evening!
Camera could maybe, possibly be back on track
Friday, October 22nd, 2004I am slightly more heartned having read some responses to my thread on dpreview.com about NY-Camera. If they are to be believed, the international sales manager has been on vacation and is returning this Monday, which could mean that orders will begin being processed (and telephones and emails answered!). I wait with much expectation!
SOLD!
Thursday, October 21st, 2004Finally I have sold my wee Punto, which has been for sale for the past 9 months. Bit like having a baby really, but at least it’s gone now, even at quite a hefty knock in the wrong direction to my bank balance!
Are things still really that bad?!
Thursday, October 21st, 2004Christy Moore has been speaking of an ordeal that he had to endure last Monday whilst taking the ferry from Dublin to Holyhead in Wales. He was detained and questioned by UK Police, who used their powers under the Anti-Terrorism laws to do so. Christy has said he found the whole experience threatening, and he faced questions about lyrics in his songs, the contents of his briefcase and personal questions about his family and children back home.
It just makes you wonder really about where we’ve come from through history, and how this sort of thing can still happen, and why the police are not better served directing their efforts towards something worthwhile and productive.
Dublin (and Drogheda) Camera Club
Thursday, October 21st, 2004I happened upon the websites of the Dublin Camera Club, and consequently, a link to the Drogheda Camera Club (my local town). I must give these a proper read later on and see what’s to be seen, and possibly meet up with these guys at some stage soon.
New Photoshop Book
Wednesday, October 20th, 2004The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby has just arrived on my desk. I bought it about a week ago from Amazon having glanced through it in a book shop in Dublin, and it looks really good. Looking forward to getting tucked into it and learning some PS wizadry. Of course, if I knew where the hell my camera was now it would be a big help!
