Well, once again it’s New Years Eve, and I’m sat at home with no electricity!! I’ve lost count of the number of New Years where we’ve not had power now, but at least the laptop still has 86% charge, so I’ll be ok for another while, tho I’ll miss the Hootenanny and Hogmany on telly!

Yet another black-out New Year

Wednesday, December 31st, 2003Lucky Woman
Wednesday, December 31st, 2003Wow, is this woman the luckiest woman alive or what, having had a heart attact on an aeroplane, the stewardess put out the call: “Is there a doctor on the plane”, and lo and behold 15 cardiologists stood up to help!
Paris Nightmare…might be getting easier
Tuesday, December 30th, 2003After a day trawling through the interweb, and I mean the day…literally, it looks like we will all be getting to Paris after all, courtesy of a package deal for the weekend. It’s looking like being rather affordable, and suiting Cella and work. Until I actually have the money down and the tickets in my hand, I’m not really going to believe it, but we’re definately moving in the right direction!
Text appeal sets mobile phone record
Tuesday, December 30th, 2003IRISH people are set to send an incredible 14.1m text and picture messages on the two main days of the holidays – Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
Overall, a record 42m text messages are expected from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day.
O2 Ireland said that over 6.1m text and picture messages were sent over their Ireland network on Christmas Day. An average of 4m are expected on other days during the holiday period, compared with 3m on a normal day.
What’s with the weather
Tuesday, December 30th, 2003Ah, come on already. I go to bed last night, and it’s -2, so I’m expecting a nice cold frosty morning when I wake up, which is what I love, especially for driving into work when everything’s all white and shiney. Then, when I wake up this-morning, I hear on the radio about how there’s snow everywhere, so I get up rather excited at the prospect of being snowed in and not able to go to work…and what do I see…nothing!! The only white thing I can see out the window is Useless looking for his breakfast, it’s not even frosty out!!
Then, I get into work, and check up on the places around the world that I like to keep an eye on the weather for, and I see it’s currently -8 in Glasgow….man I’d give anything to be there for a nice brisk walk in the chilly air!
Happy Birthday Jenny
Monday, December 29th, 2003Today, amongst other things, is my late Granny’s birthday. Unfortunately I never got to meet her as she died very young, but we’re still thinking of her.
Someone needs a good kicking
Monday, December 29th, 2003Who, in their right mind, would schedule an International Rugby match for Valentines weekend in Paris?!? Apparently the International Rugby Board think it’s a good idea to have France play Ireland there on Feb 14th.
I’m finding it a nightmare, as Cella and her man want to go too, but, as she’s teaching, she’s not able to take time off work, meaning getting flights / trains / boats there that suit everyone is near impossible (and very expensive!)
Ah well, I’ve told her that I mightn’t be able to get something to suit, which means she can save money to come to Monaco with me in May for the Grand Prix!
Strange Kinda Anniversary
Monday, December 29th, 2003This day 11 years ago, we found out that my wee brother Barry had Leukaemia, a black day in all our lives. Yet 11 years later, you’d never think it from looking at him that there was ever anything wrong with him, and it’s made us all better, stronger people who have learned to appreciate and live life to the fullest!
