PhagsPa and Tai Le, sample text ?

Looking through my fonts that are clearly tuned for a single specific script, there remain two scripts that niggle me as I don’t have suitable sample text for them. i.e. PhagsPa and Tai Le. I’m looking for a short snippet of sample text in those scripts which is suitable to stick into the font drop down preview. Ideally something fairly equivalent to “Alphabet”, “Script”, “PhagsPa/Tai Le” or “Tibetan/Tai Lü”.

Did you try to visit wikipedia in those languages and see if the English version of those words you are looking for have a corresponding translation in those languages?

    Gil,

Yeah, that’s the first thing I tried. There isn’t a cut-and-paste-able chunk of text which looks promising. For Tai Le there is a picture here which looks like it should be possible to puzzle out the correct underlying text from.

  3. I spelled phags-pa phonetically (syllabically) as ????
Searching for the above found at least one other person on the net who concurred :)

    http://www2.tba.t-com.ne.jp/ing/ing/uni60.pdf

That document also gives this for Tai Le
    ??????????

  4. Did wordpress just convert those to ?????
To save people looking up the doc in the future,
this is a handy way to generate:

    printf ‘Phags-pa = ꡍꡂꡛꡌ
’
    printf ‘Tai Le = ᥖᥭᥰᥖᥬᥳᥑᥨᥒᥰ
’

That looks very promising. Though Andrew West informs me that it spells out “phagspa” which is both orthographically incorrect (Phags-pa requires a space between syllables) and wrongly spelt (no initial, silent letter ‘a).. The suggestion I got was mongxol tshi “Mongolian letters”: i.e. printf ‘Phags-pa = ꡏꡡꡃ ꡣꡡꡙ ꡐꡜꡞ
’
