Yes and no. It doesn't matter too much if you've got an internal trusted document server. But yes, they're legally binding in certain countries and, for example, between the USA and Ireland.

Are digital signatures legally binding yet? I can see that been a problem if you require them.

As I've written elsewhere the choice of a Haskell web framework is much less mutually exclusive than it might seem. Any of the mentioned persistence systems can be used with any of the other frameworks. In fact, ACID persistence was recently rebuilt from the ground up in an independent project completely separate from Happstack. Template systems/HTML generation can also be mixed and matched. Each of the frameworks do typically provide some glue code to make it easier to use their chosen solutions, but in my opinion the whole Haskell web ecosystem is young enough that it's not too hard to write new glue for different library combinations that gives you features comparable to what is already provided. The happstack-heist package is but one example of this.

Good post. The code snippets are unreadable though - no indentation or highlighting - why don't you use github gists?

Incidentally, Haskell code looks a lot friendlier when indented :-)

There must be some way to convince Wordpress to respect this... Never really got a good way to get these graphical blog editors to co-exist happily with source code.

I believe that when you have surpassed my Haskell skills as you inevitably shall, you will discover how I am far more Jar Jar than Jedi. Happy hacking in the meantime! I hope you'll get that thrill of programming being actually fun again.
