Big fecking weapons

For the past few days there were some pretty heavily armed police hanging around Brighton train station. I didn’t see them this morning, so maybe the police reckon that they got all the nasty people they needed to catch yesterday.

In other news my build farm is nearly ready. I’ve just to install OpenSolaris and Windows XP tonight. I’m not looking forward to either install. I realise how spoiled I am with Linux and FreeBSD. If I install a Linux box all I have to do is “apt-get install gcc” or “yum install gcc” to install a C compiler. On Windows I’ve to go off to a website, download an MSI installer and double click. This poses two problems: the first is that it requires a monitor connected to the machine (hopefully I’ll get away with RDP) and the second is that I’ve to go to multiple sites to get all the software I need. If I’m paying a distributor I’d like them to do software distribution for me. That’s what I get from RedHat, Ubuntu, Debian and FreeBSD. I’d like to see the same from Microsoft and Sun too.
